The laurentian region did not pick up the November snow like Northern Vermont but they did pick up the rain. December had record rain and freezing rain resulting in the snow pack being about 8 to 12 inches of granular ice. About half the trails are still closed and the ones that are open are groomed granular . Spent yesterday hiking the icy granular with spikes and today north of Ottawa on a Fat Bike making icy climbs and icy descents . After experiencing the terrain first hand ,it is going to take a successive amounts of snow falls to fix things and it goes without saying , it has to stop raining all the time.
