LCC Report 3/31 - 4/3 on Epic

I can say that it was pretty bulletproof at Alta today. The groomers at the Supreme lift softened up a bit, but everything else was barely edge-able. Off the groomed the snow was frozen in place, not worth the effort. Temps at the summit never got above 20, and even the base barely broke the freezing mark. Oh, did I mention the wind in mid-morning?

Better tomorrow, I hope. Looking for the corn harvest...

Corn harvest this morning on Patsy Marley! The bootpack up towards Wolverine was frozen stiff, but the surface facing the Supreme lift softened up just enough by 11 am to make for wonderful smooth turns. Back in-bounds this afternoon, with groomers softening up and even a bit of fun to be had off the groomed on lower Jitterbug and Chartruse nose. No pics right now. I took some on the top of Patsy Marley but too much effort to transfer them, since it is past my bedtime.
Another freeze tonight, then warm again tomorrow...

it was downright comical. have a friend in from out of town insisting he wanted to tour, early of course. touring in mill d was firm as could be and skiing was for sh**. drove to solitude. as the wind whipped, my friend said "let me know it goes" from the heat of the car. within minutes on the lift, could easily hear survival skiing from whatever treacherous run anyone had opted to take. took one run from the top of eagle down sunshine bowl past the roundhouse to see if the snow was ok even down low and it wasn't until lower portion of moonbeam. left before noon to watch barca v. atletico.

and yes, thankfully the sun broke through and turns were significantly better today

Some days in the spring, it's best to find something else to do!

I'm sure that was true this week, but not over the weekend Apr. 1-3 according to the link I posted. Did admin & company ski last weekend?

Thanks for clarifying the priority the administrator has for FTO.
What's with the attitude about reporting on one random late season weekend at Alta?
It's not a big deal, and we're already well past the shelf life of a report.

Stan, I was at Snowbird last Tuesday as well. On my first lift ride up Gadzoom my friend (also from Virginia) turned to me in disbelief and said, "is that the sound of snowmaking guns?" It didn't take us long during our first run to realize the sound was skiers scraping their way down super firm trail surfaces all around us.
My friend had to leave at 1pm for flight home, but I was determined to hang around and things finally started to soften at 2PM. I eventually enjoyed lapping Peruvian and Wilbere chairs late in the day until 430PM closing.
Next day (Apr 6) I was skiing at Park City/Canyons for a couple hours before my own flight home and found some hero corn snow roaming from Dreamscape to Sun Peaks chairs and the terrain in between. You Utahn's are blessed and it's a treat for us Easteners to get to play in your backyard once in a while! =D>

It's now 3 weekends, all of which are reported on Facebook and none of them here. If the administrator of this site has the slightest interest in maintaining some degree of critical mass, or has any interest in other people posting TR's to this site, the least he can do is inform people of ongoing conditions in LCC.

Which is precisely the reason that reports should be posted on a somewhat timely basis rather than 3+ weeks later.
