While we're critiquing proposed trips here, Eaglecrest is a bizarre choice for a destination trip. It's the Juneau local area, small and low altitude with a fair amount of rain risk. Unless Juneau is a gateway to one of the new heli operations out of Haines, but I doubt that's what Luke has in mind. The vast majority of those considering Alaska should be going to Alyeska for reasons I detailed in my feature from 2007 http://www.firsttracksonline.com/index. ... y&sid=3120.

Kootenay or Selkirks? As mentioned on another post, I anticipate being at the new Revelstoke resort Feb. 4-6 and in Kelowna Feb. 7-8.

I guess you've haven't notice that the exchange rate would probably be affecting my US trips this Winter.

Exchange rate or no, I doubt Patrick and Morgane could get a better deal on food/lodging costs than my offer.

Just wondering why you boot packed up and didn't use a touring rig and skin up?

I would think that AT gear would have been a much better choice...unless of course, you don't own a set. If that's the case...are you considering getting an AT rig?

I didn't find anyone else that I knew from ZS to join me on this long drive

No partner for car shuttle. I'm pretty sure Patrick does not own AT gear, not sure he'd use it often enough to justify buying. Alpine trekkers for occasional use, maybe?

Yes, to both questions.

I got new skis without bindings. I was waiting to get new boots before getting AT bindings. The sole size is in the margins between Medium-Large, but varying from one company to the next.

Wondered if I could have made it to the bottom with very minimal walking. Car-shuttle was thought of, but not easy when you're solo and don't really see anyone else on the mountain.

Petite-Rivière-St-François isn't Chili, Argentina or SLC for that matter. Not sure many cars would start off at the dead-end outside the village in the base of a closed area where the main offices are at the summit. The summit is also 4km away from the main highway, so if you're not shuttling yourself, there is no reason to go from one place to another.

I didn't ask. I'm a purist. :mrgreen: Don't worry, I finished the roll of film, should be ready sometime this week. Awf was asking on another ski forum if I was going to post this TR with pics before October 2010? :lol:

October 1st is today. :mrgreen: This is in season...unfortunately I won't be able to post pics from SA in June/July this year. :-(

3) Several intermediate trails from that lodge, so it can be skiable on a fairly thin base, as Patrick has demonstrated.

Since that trip, I got AT stuff, binding broke, got them changed and then stolen. Not sure how long until I get to buy next ones.
