The snow didn't get going until 5 or 6 AM. Mad River Glen listed 2" on the 7 AM report, but by the time we opened the lifts at 8:30, there was about 3 to 4" at the top. The snow stopped a little after 10 AM and we had blue skies in the afternoon. It was great fluffy powder for a few hours until it got skiied off. MRG had 28 of 44 trails open today (Periwinkle opened), Fall Line was foot packed and may open soon. The steeps are very thin cover (Chute in particular), but all the Mad River Glen regulars are out on their rock skis and have wide smiles on their faces. My favorites today were Slalom hill off the double, and Catamount to Upper Canyon (Canyon is closed below Bunny). Because there have been no thaw/freeze cycles yet, the pitch on Upper Canyon has no ice !
