I'm up at MRG for the whole week and it's great skiing. Skied sunday, monday, and tuesdsay in identical warm (highs in low 40s) sunny days. The freeze-thaw cycle is in full force --- the snow sets up a bit at night but the first three days the sun and warm temps softened it up quite nicely. It's skiing really well -- ranging from close to midwinter conditions at the top to real spring slush in the sunny areas at the bottom. Brown patches and rocks are beginning to make themselves felt, particularly on the lower mountain, and they're losing snow at a reasonably good rate. But it's still good skiing and the cover's pretty good most places, particularly on the upper mountain.
Bumps on the open trails are getting a bit deep since it's been a while since the last snowfall. But the woods are still in great shape even down towards the bottom of the mountain (careful about open water in the streambeds though!).
Today it's been a bit cloudy so the snow hasn't really softened up. So I'm calling it an early day but will be back up tomorrow and friday.
