heck yea! awesome day done up proper at magic mountain with the whole mountain still unroped despite some thin cover. w00t.

groomer action started out the morning fiiiiiiiiiiine. could say i started off by turning a trick ;) lower sections of the mountain just ripped, open it up and pick up some steam with arcs all over the place. i still say magic is extremely underrated for their groomer terrain. all the groomers except wizard were great in the AM and stayed great all day. wizards started out ugly frozen gran but finally corned up late in the date.

while riding the lift, i spoke with a college kid racing in the thompson division (i used to race thompson). he skis stratton all the time cause his GF has a condo or something there. blah blah blah. any ways, he had never tried magic before and MAN was he raving about the place! another convert, i love it. you just have to ski it once on a good day to understand.

for natural snow, things started out very hard with frozen gran. my legs weren't moving, i hadn't eatten enough, and i was tired. essentially, i was making it look like amateur day on talisman, sorcereer, twilight zone, heart, and goniff. out of those, talisman and heart were pretty nice down low and i didn't care much for sorcereer with unforgiving frozen bumps. goniff was amazingly better twlight zone which i don't often find to be the case.

red line was pretty sparse, but definitely skiable. i nailed it three times. the cliff section was a little difficult to navigate but definitely doable. bumps till the really steep part were friggin sweet. the steep section was scraped off with rocks and sticks and bare spots and an occasional bump. yum! had to psyche myself up for master. man, the enterence to master looked ugly!! while picking out my line, another skier asked if i was actually going to ski it, lol! stayed skier's left and found a decent but hairy line. red line and master need snow ASAP to make it until next weekend.

slide of hans completed out the afternoon with solid bumps down low and scetchy bumps up top, then corn snow on wizard to run it out! awesome day at magic, i'll be back friday with a report from magic again.

Nice report, Riv

Wednesday was PP everywhere. The warmer temps and sun are starting to take their toll, but the base is still good and deep. The usual spots, sunshine corner, Lower Witch and just above Deadman's curve were starting to go.

This is the best shape I've seen Magic in this late in March in quite a while. SHould still be good next weekend, but more snow will be needed to carry beyond that.

Can't wait to get back up this week.

THanks for the report!

visual presentation included. for some reason, i was favoring the vertical shot instead of the horizontal today.

additionally, a panoramic shot of the entrance to master magician is HERE as it does not match the specifications for an upload to FTO NBS. it looked A LOT worse from the lip than it did once you took a few turns down. i spent a lot of time on an angle issue creating a problematic alignment. i am satisfied for now but could have spent more time making the adjustments.

fiddlefaddle, i reversed the order of the photos and i am too lazy to go through and correct them. oh well, heh.

Great pictures. The panoramic shot make the top of Master look rough. The left side wasn't too bad on Wednesday. The shots of Redline makes it look better than it was Wednesday.

I'm hoping to squeeze in a couple of days later this week.

Ski it while you can!
