Well I decided to take the "HP" lift up to Paresene's bowl and ride on down through Mary Jane to check out the Conditions.
The HP Chair in dowload mode.

Ahh that's better ready for uphill travel.

I skinned up through Second Creek on Berthoud Pass. Took a break at the mid mountain lodge for lunch.

Got going again, looking at South Cone...getting close.

Ahh now I can see the Cirque. Wow there is a lot of snow back there already. I am sure you could get turns back there. Could be an early opening for that area if the snow continues to fly.

North Cone which lies in the resort.

Ahhh the Timberline Lift and the HP lift is into download mode.

I had to hike down about 20 yards from the summit, but then the snow was filled in just fine.

Paresene's area is looking good too.

A look at Lunch Rock. Can't see the new lift. At least I don't

There where rocks and some thin coverage here and there. Then again, I didn't hit a thing. As long as the snow flies, it could be another great early season for all.

Lucky you have a BC dog. My brother's dog is not smart enough to follow tracks, so eventually he collapses or doesn't move for days. Breaking trail in a few feet will do that. Therefore, he's been banned from treks.

Yeah, it takes time to get the pooch up to speed on what to do in the BC. First there is the need to follow tracks thing. Then you have "get scared going down steeps" thing. A few others. Most dogs I find, eventually figure out to follow your tracks. Either way, you are way faster in downhill mode so you'll leave them in the dust if you don't pull up and wait for them to catch up to you. The only times Cody hangs is on the steep stuff. In that he can dallor sign my turns and then you have to watch out that you don't injure your dog which is really easy to do with metal edges and all.

love to see the pooch on the hill - that's the great thing about pre-season in the resort areas. i just hiked whistler with mine this morning. didn't take her long to figure out fresh tracks are better for people than dogs. she was up over her head before she turned around and started following my line.
nice pics! i'm hoping to do one more hike before my local hill opens.

A few others....

My bro's dog only has one eye (sneak attack by another dog). He runs sideways. Attempts to catch objects with some success. And does his own thing.

Depth perception is not his strong skill. Neither is following trails.
