First thread I've started in Down Under where I've never been or skied.

Mountain Capital Partners, who owns or runs Purgatory, Arizona Snowbowl, Willamette Pass, Brian Head, Nordic Valley, and a few other southwestern ski areas bought Valle Nevado, Chile which claims to be the largest ski area in the Americas at 23,000 acres, 2,200 skiable acres inbounds.

I'm going to hazard a guess that Valle Nevado was really hurting financially. They market to foreign tourists, of whom there were essentially none during the 2020 and 2021 COVID seasons. Then there's the drought, far worse than California's: no above average seasons since 2009 and several in the 50% of average range.
