MRG

With the eastern ski sea areas becoming more generic with the passage of time it is good to see that the shareholders coop at MRG voted to refurbish the single chair 778 to 178. Anyone who has skied MRG would know how long the snow would last with a quad chair, not to mention the damage the trails would sustain with the construction of modern chairlifts.

Sorry Anthony,

I though you had a ski report for us.

The best $1.4 millions US ever spent. 8) I followed the debate closely, I could've giving you the results of the vote on April 3rd.

Who is going to be there in 2049 for the Single Chair Centennial Celebration. \:D/ Now if only we can go something about global warming.

i think it is very easy for skiers to look around and understand that once you change a ski area significantly, it can never return to the way it was. it makes you appreciate what you have a lot more. some might say that people are fearful of change, but rather i think people understand what change could bring based on what has happened else where. suffice to say, we can all appreciate that MRG has something spetacularly unique and many many people are very appreciative of that fact. while the current single may not last 100 years even with the restoration, i look forward to being able to hopefully ride the single for the remainder of my skiing years which will hopefully last well beyond 2049 with any luck.

I can think of Owl?s Head, Quebec (Quebec/VT Border) as a perfect example of how the modernization of a lifts and runs can change the complete character of an area. 25 years ago this area was a great place with narrow twisting trails following the contours of the hill. Then came the bulldozers landfill and quad lifts. Skiing there a few years ago, I hardly recognized the place. So as Steve mentioned once it?s gone it?s gone for good.
