Mt Bachelor June 16, still open to the bottom

I wonder if there are any other ski areas in the Northern Hemisphere (other than Timberline) that are currently open with terrain all the way to their base area. Now that the usual "Junuary" weather is upon us, I suspect the skiing and riding will continue into July. That is, if you are among the "1%" that can access the lifts right now!

Well not today precisely, but A-basin has been open June weekends (Fri-Sun) for the 100% (aka public). So yesterday they were open on the frontside all the way to the base. We'll see what happens this coming weekend though - which will likely be their last for the season... They were at 2 lifts and ~250 acres or so last weekend.

That said, Bachelor definitely has more snow down low based on that pic.

I inquired, and got this response:
Regarding your question about our June ski camp operation, remaining open to the public in June while simultaneously facilitating private camps would dramatically increase our costs – especially if we were to add Summit lift to the matrix. And we do not believe there would be nearly enough added revenue from the public to offset those increased costs.

Also, it should be noted that Timberline’s winter season passes expired back on Memorial Day. Former winter pass holders who want to ski or ride there must now purchase either a $62 day ticket or a $899 summer season pass. If Mt. Bachelor were to decide to offer any public skiing/riding opportunities in June, we would most certainly have to follow a similar ticket/pass model in order to prevent heavy financial losses. But, in our opinion, that kind of pricing model – charging “extra” for June – would not be well-accepted by our local population of winter pass holders. Many of them would believe that their winter pass should allow them continued lift access beyond May 25 – and they would be quite vocal in expressing their opinion on the matter.

So… all that said… we advertise, up front every fall, that our final day of the season is the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. That’s when all tickets and passes expire and our winter (public) skiing & snowboarding season ends. We also consider a public reopening for skiing/riding over the 4th of July weekend – if conditions permit.

Sometimes it's an advantage to live in a big metro area. Mammoth's late season is not as consistent as Mt. Bachelor's, but at least we know it will be open to the public to the bitter end when there is enough snow. A-Basin seems to have adequate demand also, though its late season skiing does not compare to Mammoth's or Bachelor's once Pali is closed IMHO.

I thought that weather was unusual when Patrick and I were there in 2012. Apparently not? At Mammoth, Snowbird and even A-Basin I think you can count on June weather being quite summer-like.

From that pic it looks like a public July 4 at Bachelor might be a possibility. That's very impressive for a season that was barely above average at 400 inches since November 1 and was very lean until February.
