Okay, skiers, here's what a mother grizzly with a cub is gonna look like. You don't want to stop and take pictures. Ski away from the bears. It is said that Grizzlies prey on large mammals, when available, such as moose, deer, sheep, elk, bison, caribou and even black bears, but they have a particular taste for picture taking heliskiers.

Crocker's calendar says Spring starts this year on Sunday, the 20th. Would bet dollars to donuts (a pretty even bet these days) the vernal equinox occurs on that exact day (don't ask me at what UTC time exactly though). Keep trying to catch me flubbing up. It keeps me on my toes, if nothing else.

That was from a den calendar. One of the kitchen calendars says the Vernal Equinox was at 23:21 UT (Universal Time, i.e. GMT - Greenwich Mean Time), March 20, the first day of spring for 2011. On this day, copious amounts of snow fell in many of the mountainous areas of the great state of California. :ski:  .

I'm wondering if anyone else looks at this pic of mama grizz & like yearling cub (that's no just-out-of-the-den cub, naturally) and gets the impression that Mama is talking to Jr. & maybe is asking something like, "Since there's no more room in the den right now, are you sure you'll be able to finish the heliskier this time?"

I'll say what I'm sure everyone else has been thinking....this is the most informative post on heliskiing that I've ever read.

Do I detect an air of sarcasm? :-( (For indeed, such an air would be hard to miss here. Please dear readers, understand that this topic is largely comical and meant to amuse much more than to educate.)

"Dear readers"? That's pretty damned presumptuous. Amuse vs educate? It fails miserably at both.

I was trying a Dear Abby address with the "Dear readers". Maybe she was before your time. What kind of education are you not getting enough of on FTO that everything has to be so serious? Skiing is not a religion to most Americans, but simply a diversion, like Warner Bros. cartoons. You have the right to turn away from anything you want to here, including this topic. :snowball fight:

I'm having a good day, getting ready to call it a night up at Solitude and it's dumping. I have yet to read a post from you that had anything that resembled a resonable tought. FWIW I've had a dozen or so tequila shots but still, this is a ski forum so.....

I'm still wondering how many people, out of a hundred say, see this photo and wonder if it was like photo-shopped to make Mama Grizz look like she's talking. :?:
