NAO NEGATIVE

How's that for lobbing a grenade?

It's just a rumour but I did hear it over at the NWS (Albany) site. There question was...will the two branches of the jet "phase?"

Now I KNOW a Negative NAO is good (cold). I THINK if the branches phase it means a chance for real snow or a coastal event, but not sure. Hoping the experts will chime in.

umm...
It?s looking like they?re calling for something on or around Christmas, in a major way. PA-NY-New England most likely getting the brunt of it, though might be a white x-mas down in the mid-atlantic, (where I am right now) if the temps allow.

They?re looking pretty positive right now on something developing. The next couple days should allow for a more accurate prediction?

After this possible storm, there is talk of more events (up to 3???) who knows- long shot for sure. Better than what was predicted a few days ago..

i like to see a blocking pattern set up over Greenland and the North Atlantic. This forces cold air down in out next of the woods along with a trough along the east coast. Maybe Scott could take the time to explain it . That said, the long range is starting to look quite good for us on the East coast.

Jason--apologies for being late in returning your message (Hello). Any chance you thread out a bit more on what long-range you're referring to? I'm mining for any good news I can possibly get my hands around so we can keep employees from leaping off the tall stuff.

Steve ,
Using the latest GFS .. We have to wait for a cut off that is meandering across the the country to exit the east coast. After this takes place, in about 7days we should see a significant cool down. That said, the long range is as finicky as my daughters moods  Lets wait for our resident meteorologist Powderfreak(scott) to expand on this.

Hoping that Santa did get my letter.

Best one today!

Hopefully we could see a completely white out xmax holiday... I wouldn't mind being stuck at Jay storm after storm until Jan 8th!
