Northeast snowfall yesterday/last night

I just bopped around the Net to see what I could see. The answer? Not much.

The pic below from Killington's Basin Ski Shop definitely shows the snow above 3,000 feet yesterday. The rest of the cam images are from the past half hour.

The Bald Hill Pond shot is in VT's NE Kingdom. Hard to tell if there's any riming of dusting of snow on the trees at the summit visible on the photo. The Burlington cam looks across Lake Champlain at the Adirondacks, but I can't make out any snow. The shot of Burke Mountain is from Lyndon State College -- again, I can't see anything. Ditto for the live shot from Mad River Glen's parking lot, or of Camel's Hump from Montpelier.

Finally, though, there's the shot from Saranac Lake looking toward the Adirondack High Peaks, where the slides on Colden are clearly white.

I'm still looking for something from the Tug Hill Plateau, which was supposed to get some action from the lake effect machine last night.

I came up empty-handed. I found a couple of cams on the Plateau, but none were pointed at anything with any elevation. At least the yards of people's homes on the Plateau were bare.

However, this shot from Killington taken today of the Canyon quad should help make up for it!

Rather than lose Jay's cam picture when they update it, let's just post it here. This is today's pic from Jay.

Sorry, I didn't know if you wanted links or if it was ok to use up server space.

Oh, jeez, don't say "sorry!" I didn't mean to cast anything toward you, I just wanted to be able to preserve the image.

A few thoughts, as long as you've brought it up:
1. If it's on-topic, by all means post it!
2. If you post something, don't make it of a file size that's unnecessarily large. If it can be reduced without losing the point, by all means do so.
3. Server space isn't quite the issue that it was prior to our move to a dedicated server last June. I don't expect it to be an issue for some time to come, for right now we're using only about 5.11 Mb on a 20 Mb hard drive. However, should it become an issue some time in the future, FTO reserves the rights to prune old messages as necessary to open up space.

In that case...

For some reason this map wouldn't attatch so here it is in the body of the post.

click on the image to take you to the page where it is displayed, it's a good one to bookmark and refer to later on in the year.

Very Very nice...

I checked the snow cover website (see general discussion), unfortunately they only update every 24 hours.

LOL VERY GOOD ONE PORTER !

The nice thing here is that it will be quite cold tonite in the north.

So much that I think there is 90-95% chances that St-Sauveur open their snowguns tomorrow morning. It's already below 30 at the base of Mt-Tremblant and it should decrease fast, during the night ! I'm sure a lot of ski areas will start their snowguns tonite in the East !

Sooooo : I think the QC ski season is going to start tomorrow morning or afternoon, if some crazy skiers/borders do like I did last year on october 20.

The very bad new is that I won't be there this year, being 120+ miles away from St-Sauveur, without a car

Anyway, I'm going to try to take my revenge on the next cold night... if I'm not again in Ottawa...

I may find myself eating my words, but I'd be shocked if it's skiable by tomorrow.

Franko-
I think that was a direct challenge from Marc!

For those who haven't seen it, you've gotta see Frankontour "skiing the trees" at Mont Saint-Sauveur's opening day last year in our New Beginnings video. You'll find it in our online video section, a.k.a. SkiMovies.com. JonnyD's comment might make even more sense after seeing that.

And yeah, Frank, that reminds me that I owe you something that I promised. Sorry, I forgot all about it.

So skiing on that grass & rock spot on november 9 was somehow normal for me :D

But today, I worked from 8h30AM to 7h30 PM and I still have to work a couple of hours before to go to bed, even though I'm very tired.... so I'll pass my turn for this year, but look at me to be there the next one !!!!

But LOOK at this wonderful pic of Tremblant, on the 19th of october. I knew it was snowing there. Very white on the top ! wow !
