Open Snow Subscription Change 2025

I just cancelled my Opensnow subscription which was set for a late June auto-renewal. $49.99 for just me was definitely not going to happen. I struggle to justify the $15 per year I paid last June frankly. I also have no desire to run around lining up 3 other people to share a subscription with. It's marginal value to me is pretty low.

That said, if someone on FTO wants to recoup $12.50 to share their subscription with me/my email by next fall, let me know. I believe the $50 tier can do 4 different emails.

I have abandoned it.

It's useless outside of North America. Even some ski resort (Europe, South America) websites are much, much better at reporting accurate snowfall. Sad.

And having some generic snow predictions is good enough for North America. I am not chasing powder to Colorado. And Tahoe snow predictions have so many sources.

I have continued to subscribe to Opensnow, however I should probably cancel it. The forecasting is no better than any other source and it frequently grossly overestimates the snow totals. I guess I like reading the detailed written forecasts and find these helpful.

Yes, I joined Adam's subscription last fall. I don't think it's that difficult to find 4 skiers to share.

Some of the recent season recaps by the local forecasters have been informative.

Me neither. But for my purposes I want to see the local write-ups for each state/province, even the ones I don't ski much.

Same for me.

I have fun looking at details for a resort that friends are going to in a month or so. My curiosity involves multiple regions, including those without any mountains with more than 1200 ft vertical.

I continue to subscribe at the shared $50 tier. That’s a small price to pay for more data points on backcountry conditions, and it’s nice to have an at-a-glance summary of nearby SNOTEL data. I don’t really care if their forecasts for Europe or South America are junk.
