April 16 was the last of my 6 April days at Kirkwood. May 16 was my first and only day this year at Palisades. I went to Palisades to break up trip to Mammoth which is too far for an early AM drive and to go by friend's family house across the street from Lake in King Beach after skiing. They are working to put it on market this Summer. My drive was about 3 hrs 45 min with minimal stops and I loaded Funitel not much after 8 AM opening. I first rode Gold Coast 8x, skiing Gold Coast Face 4x and smooth snow in the parks 3x before moving to Shirley Lake.

My watch counted 20 laps on Shirley Lake which may be a record for me for rides on one lift in a day. Snow was generally very good. It started firm enough then got soft in places by time I quit not much after noon. I did one more Gold Coast Face on way to Funitel as beer I'd buried in snow for download was easier to get from there than return from Shirley. Snow was still good on Gold Coast Face after 12.

The only semi-dud run was when I traversed across Shirley Bowl and stepped up to come down what my watch says is Little Rock Pile. I had to side-step over about 5' of brush as it did not look like a good place to take off then put back on skis. Once past there and below a little waterfall the snow was good. I never tried the wiggles but did ski smooth snow to lookers right of them a couple of times The brush I side-stepped over and a skier in some of the snow below it.

View from friend's family house includes Homewood runs and Mt Tallac. Houses across street are $4M+. Theirs is maybe $1.5M even though it's on large lot.

And the CO Front Rangers (Denver/Boulder) complain about what time you need to be on I-70 to avoid traffic. :p:);)

Tahoe (I-80/50) almost always has you beat year-round with the constant joy of the Sacramento sprawl into the Sierra foothills.
