Well I didn't really see the year go by. It's been a crazy year!!!
The most I've done in the past had been one trip a year out West, never two. Three? Impossible. Why this maddest? Did a get a raise? Win the lottery?
No, I was on a quest, a quest for skiing every month of the year in a single season. I guess you can blame it on Wildcat last October.
Yes, my wife thinks it's crazy. #-o
My mother thinks I should be locked up. ](*,)
However my kids think it's cool. 8) Especially that Morgane, my oldest, was going to get to ski while her classmates were back at school.
The only way this was going to fly and make sense was to make it part of my family vacation and gets some turns out of it.
Some here is some pictures from those two weeks.
Part 1:
August 22:
Flying Ottawa to Vancouver then a short flight down to Portland, Oregon.
The last flight line is spectacular. Right over the Juan de Fuca strait with Victoria on the right and the Cascades on the left (Baker, Glacier, fantastic view of Rainier and St. Helen). Right over downtown Seattle.
After arriving in Portland in the evening, we drove off to sleep near Olympia, Washington.
August 23:
Driving from Olympia west toward the Pacific and the Olympic Peninsula. Final destination: Port Angeles. Sent a few hours on the wide and sandy beach at Kalaloch then hiking in Hoh Rain Forest.
August 24:
Left west again in the fog to go to Neah Bay at the extreme NW corner of the continental US and back toward Port Angeles and Hurricane Ridge where we encounted our first patch of snow and mountain goats.
After a supper in Port Angeles, we drove off to Seattle with a late night ferry ride to downtown Seattle.
