Chin Clip is open top to bottom (heck, we've been skiing it T2B for a couple weeks now so its got a good skier-packed base). Can't confirm bumps on PM but my guess is its the "mogul icon" because it had snowmaking and the piles were left ungroomed. Not sure I'd call it moguls (I'm just assuming its not the Chin Clip type of moguls) but it wasn't groomed.

I know Tom, the daily snow reporter, personally and he is very detailed in his work. He double checks every thing and while ski patrol can pull a fast one every once in a while, if Tom's got a trail open top to bottom..its open top to bottom.

I am privy to Stowe and the hill in in great shape! The trail county is a bit misleading though. Stowe has been known to have the great 48 since I started skiing there in the early 90's. Somehow I think marketing got hold of of the trail count people and are in an experimental phase of determining whether perception of more trails brings more people to the mountain. "If you were" to consider Upper, Middle and Lower Gondlier as 3 trails, therein lies the additioanl trail count. This would be the ONLY stretching of the truth at Stowe.

Stowe is doing a fantasticly good job of grooming the early season natural combined with the best effort of the man-made variety I've seen in a long time. They would be 100% if the new Sensation at Spruce was open, and the lower gentler terrain of Toll House as well. Although ticket prices seem to be reflective of a $ 400 Million expansion, the money is well spent for early season skiing and riding! You won't be disappointed.

Give the trees another storm or two to fill in, as the light, wind blown snow packs out quickly and danger can still lurk right below the surface.
