Quebec skiing this weekend

Laurentians:

Well, Mont St-Sauveur decided to open now including night skiing (it still not on their website). One run (Hill 70) for $25 CDN ($26.70 US).

Tomorrow hours: 9am to 10pm.

Quebec City area:

Cross-country skiing opens for this weekend. Although there is full of snow on Mont Ste-Anne, alpine skiing area is keeping their fixed opening date of November 17th.

Montreal area:

Mont St-Bruno in the Monttreal suburds is probably not too far from opening day or night

Although the weather has not been exceptionnal for snowmaking, our incredible crew has been able to make snow for the past two nights and our skiing terrain will offer one trail starting this afternoon at 3:00 P.M.

The question I have now, who is open this weekend although that isn't going to help as I'm home at sick and taking care of the kids this weekand. Wife is out of town for business and booked all day tomorrow.

Snow, Bretton Woods, Sunday River, Sugarloaf, MSS, Woodsbury plus a pair in North Carolina. Anyone else?

Talking about Crazy, Frankontour was heading out tonight. I believe Big Jay was also planning to go tonight then Le Massif for real snow non-lift served boarding.

I went to IKEA instead... didn't feel like making the trip up North... We'll probably go on sunday in the sun! We're leaving early tomorrow morning to earn some turns at Le Massif... Can't wait! Go my split and skins ready to ride! Can't believe there will be 4 of us in a Yaris! That's going to be funny!

I wished we had a Yaris. :roll:

Yaris is a big car compared to what were driving in South American. Over 1400km (some of it on snow/mud with no chains), 3 guys stuff for 2 weeks, 5 pair of skis and no ski rack (we improvised one) from main highway to crazy winding mountain roads.

At one point I'll finish my TR.

This wasn't that bad...

The right decision was to ski it yesterday night. We knew there would be a minimal crowd and the conditions would be more interesting than during weekend, due to the large crowd.

I say that, but in the same time, I see that it's -9c this morning in the north (very wet though... 92%) so I guess they're shooting right now, to get the Nordique ready to open... It only misses snow in the middle part of the trail.

We were 5 from zoneski yesterday night, from 7 to 9pm and the conditions were of course frozen granular, but for skiing on a nov 9th with a lift, everyone was happy of the conditions on the 50% width of the trail open...

In my younger days, I would ski the early season WROD's at Snow Summit at night in order to avoid the crush of bodies on the same few runs during the day. A sign that Frank may not be quite as crazy as we thought.

I'm pickier now and insist on about 60% of terrain open to make the 2 hour drive out there.

Frank skied at night because MSS opened at 3pm without any advance warning. If they would opened this am instead, I'm pretty sure we would have been there early instead of waiting for making his turns at night. Although MSS is about 2hr away from Ottawa, I'm personally in no rush to ski in November.

For yesterday, I couldn't have skied earlier anyway, because I can't leave work before 5PM... At this hour, you can guess it was longer than 30-40 minutes........ let's say 25 minutes from here to Christophe's home (getting closer to the mountain) and after, it took about 45-50 minutes to get at the mountain.

About the "rush" or "no rush" to ski in november, last year I wasn't rushed at all to go skiing, after my july/august trip at Timberline, but this year, without having skied on decent terrain since may 5, (and without have skied at all since june 3), I was quite more excited and motivated...

There is also the fact that I'm getting in a better shape, since the last few months, so hiking for skiing is quite a nice way to exercise myself

I hope to ski every weekend this season (even though I know I won't ) and get at least 40 ski days, even though my job requires so much hours in winter/spring...
