Wow ! Another powder day today, but less good than the one of friday.

The mountain had more snow than I'd ever seen there, but yesterday, some wet snow fell on the mountain and the temperature was slightly over the freezing point, so the powder wasn't totally light unfortunately. But it was still some first tracks in a foot+ of virgin powder in many trails. It was simply awesome and the 3 usual glades were amazing !!!

Here is the Glade #12.

It was in super good shape and there was way enough snow to continue the run to reach the base of the mountain. Shefford has something special : the trees are well spaced almost everywhere on the mountain... so if there is enough snow, you can ski almost wherever you want ! As there was about 3-4' of snowdepth even on the lower mountain in the woods, I did some amazing off-pistes runs.

Off-piste ? Not really, Shefford slogan is "the natural mountain" and it's exactly that. So the off-piste is ± considerated like some trails, if you want.

Weirdly, even though it's one of the most amazing extreme and wood skiing place in the province, the ski level is super low.

As I wrote previously in the bulletin board, they added a trail, this year. Here is a little description : 12' wide, 400' high, 1500' long, 30 degrees max, Tight glade, huge snowdepth, big powder... AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!! This will be high in my top best trails !!! I skied this area many times last year, but to have a real trail is fun, cause it's the only place on the mountain where there is a ton of branches and it's quite hard to ski there, even though it was awesome last year ! (I actually don't talk of this trail on the Quebec bulletin board... but here, I don't care as I know you probably won't try it lol)

Here is a pic of it... in a very narrow section (very narrow for an official trail !)

The Big Wall : at a certain place, there is a huge wall, off-trail. The lower part is so steep, I fell on the ground, but I was almost stood up... 50 degrees in this part I would say and it finishes by a cliff of near 10' high, but there was so much snow that it wasn't looking like a cliff ! wow !

+ that : all the natural trails (most of the trails on the mountain) were awesome, with a lot of powder and some great conditions. The snow was soft, soft, soft... and it was some slow conditions enough.

Here is the center trail :

I really loved the "empty" right part of the mountain. At a moment, we were 4 in the whole area... there was :

1) Me
2)

3-4 :

It's always amazing to see some deers walking in the snow arriving on their chest.

Hmmmm, I really love the t-bars when they reach the best gladed, extreme and off-piste terrain in the southern QC.

Is Hickory open now ? (the cousin of Shefford)
