Snow and Ice for the northeast Wednesday afternoon-Thursday

I'm crunched for time and have been for the past week to ten days, so
here's a quick version of what I envision happening Wednesday evening thru Thursday:

First wave of precip slides south of New England during Tuesday night and
early Wednesday. This might bring some light snow and ice to portions of
PA, and northern NJ. Amounts will be on the order of up to 4" across the
mountains of PA and the higher terrain of NW New Jersey.

The second, stronger system will move through the Ohio Vally and up
towards Buffalo on Wednesday. Out ahead of this low will be strong warm
air advection precipitation...with a slug of moisture moving from PA
northeast into eastern NY and western New England on Wednesday evening.

It will be cold enough through the entire column for snow to be the
starting precip type from the southern tier of New York to the Catskills
and Berkshires. The snow will move NE towards east-central NY, VT, MA,
CT, and NH. After a couple hours of snow, precip will change to sleet,
then to freezing rain, and finally briefly to rain in areas south of I-90
across NY and MA. North of I-90, I expect all frozen or freezing precip.

The low tracks from Buffalo towards central VT and then out into the Gulf
of Maine with possible redevelopment (but it will be too late to do much
good except possibly hold the cold air in longer in eastern and coastal
MA).

As far as mountainous areas and snowfall goes (Starting Wednesday
afternoon from southwest to northeast and ending on Thursday from
southwest to northeast):

Southern Tier of NY into the Catskills...Snow->sleet->freezing rain->rain
with 3-5" of snow/sleet plus up to 1/2" of ice.

Albany into the Berkshires and northern MA...Snow->sleet->freezing rain-
>ending as drizzle or a period of light rain with 4-7" of snow/sleet plus
up to 1/4" of ice.

Southern Adirondacks over into Southern VT (Mount Snow to Okemo) and
Southern NH (Sunapee)...Snow->Sleet->Freezing Rain with 5-10" of
snow/sleet with a slight glaze of ice.

Northern Adirondacks over into Central VT (Sugarbush to Killington) and
Central NH (Loon and Waterville Valley)...Snow->Sleet->possibly ending as
freezing drizzle with 4-8" of snow/sleet.

Burlington into northern VT (north of I89) to northern NH (Cannon,
Wildcat)...Snow->possibly mixing with sleet at the end with 3-6" of
snowfall.

While it isn't the most stellar forecast, it is better than nothing, or all rain. At least there's a chance of accumulated snow. Every little bit helps. Hopefully this storm will pave the way for snowier storms in the coming weeks. Fingers crossed.

Go outside naked and do a snow dance. It's our only hope!

Fear not, all snow for VT out of this storm.

Luckily I have a small backyard here in Brooklyn or my naked dance may have landed me in jail had it been done in the streets.

At least 8 inches on the way.

I'm not even going close to that one!

The nick intrigues me...are you a member at Vermont's Bear Creek (née Round Top)?

I rent a house up on Round Top, but usually ski Killington.
$70 on the weekend for Bear Creek is a bit steep for 13 trails, but the Thursday/Friday special at $40 with the lunch included is a nice deal, especially on a powder day.

Think Snow!

I can believe it. I had a nice day there last year researching this story.

It's a great little spot. Glad you got to check it out.

I patrolled there for a couple of seasons right when it re-opened. We generally outnumbered the customers. John Neal is a heck of a skier.

No &^*%!!!! I honestly got frostbite from the windspeeds of simply keeping up with him. You know, those moments when your mind tells you, "Man, you really don't want to blow it right now..."
