Snow Day!!! (Wind Day?)

It's a play day for teachers/ski bums! Does anyone know when the wind is supposed to die off? I want to get out and make some turns in the fresh, but I'm sure the lifts are on wind hold. It sounds like the wind is trying to bring the world crashing down around us.

Anyone up for a hike?
Ottawa buried in snow (10in) and still falling. :P What am I doing at work, especially when I had a leave form filled out for today just in case?

Boss can't believe I showed up.

I was worried about the wind and I don't have an unlimited bank of days off + a whole bunch of non-ski related stuff making even today a gamble.

To make matter worst, ALL the local hill are only open on weekend. :bs: :x :x :x :x

HOWEVER mtngirl, I'm pretty sure that someone here is skinning up at Stowe today if the lifts aren't running.

nothing better than closed resort during week so you can have it all to yourself. i'd go to jay if i knew they'd be on wind hold, but western maine looks like it could be the jackpot so i go tonight.
have fun

Sorry to say, it's going to blow like stink all day...
Actually, it was one of the calmest storms I have ever seen at Jay. Almost no wind all day until around 2pm when you could feel the weather pattern changing. The breeze shifted to a wind and by 3pm the up slope wind from Canada was in full effect.

Tuesday will be another story though. Massive wind tomorrow and lifts will definitely be on hold all over the place.

it blew pretty good at areas south and east of jay. glad to see you weren't blow off the mtn
There was like almost no wind in the morning. It was unreal. Almost got blown off around 2ish though

I went up to Smuggs around noon. There wasn't much wind, but there was a whole lot of powder. Eveything was opened up...all the woods shots were super sweet. Even the back bowls were stellar!
