Snowbird Late Season Ops

Snowbird is now the only lift served option. As usual, they've gone to their standard spring operations:

Chair passes are now honored on the Aerial Tram. The lift ticket price is now $72. Operating lifts today are Chickadee, Wilbere, Little Cloud, Mineral Basin Express, and the Tram. All other lifts and the Terrain Park are closed for the season. Back country touring access is open from Hidden Peak.

The next change will be the second weekend in May, when they stop daily ops and go to a Fri-Sun schedule. Then it will be just the Tram and Little Cloud and maybe Mineral Basin, depending on conditions. They will also move to an 8a - 2:30p schedule. Also during May, it's not unusual for Mineral Basin to shut as early as noon due to daytime warming and the possibility of wet avalanches.

My understanding is also that Peruvian Gulch, unlike most years, will not be available as backcountry and be completely off limits due to construction. Specifically, Chip's Run will be plowed to gravel and there will be lots of heavy equipment moving around as they ramp up for the construction of the new summit building and restaurant.

just solidifies my decision to not get a combo pass. Looks like with the upgrades that no matter what amount of snow falls between now and end of may that snowbird will finish day to day on or about memorial day.

And if I recall Alta will be open for Fri-Sun operations for the next 2 weekends.

Alas another season comes to a close.

Peruvian side is still open as of May 16. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11498 So it seems likely they will hold off closing it until after Memorial weekend.

Incorrect. The only reason Peruvian was open yesterday was because the Tram was down for maintenance. If you checked the Snowbird site you would have seen that it is once again closed for the remainder of the weekend and likely the season.

no silver fox gate or tower four gate and primerose was roped at the first chips switch back road but you could go out the first switch back to the baldy shoulder to get into mineral basin . lupin loop was the main reason for allowing people to go out the switch backs at all . and you could enter peruvian gulch through the upper cirque gates , great scott gate and the ho chi min traverse were open with no restrictions . snowbird created probably the longest rope line i've ever seen in the upper cirque . you could ski great scott but you couldn't ski upper executive usual trees or go further east into tear drop bowl , patrol had a rope line down the right side of great scott all the way down over some sunny spot were everyone skis to when skiing the upper cirque . skiing down andersons was permitted but no going out to whodunnit to access the bottom of the hill . lower chips face was fantastic skiing this afternoon to the base area . the manmade snow is becoming more noticable especially on lower chips face . the natural snow cover is still plentiful that low on the hill but the manmade is showing up . snowbird has started plowing the summer road in places for construction this summer . they must do this so the road will dry out and the cement trucks can access the summit safely .
