13 March 2026, It was another sunny day with only light winds at Snowbird. Crowds were up a bit because Friday is the new Saturday, but only got stuck in one longish singles line about 11 am in Mineral Basin.

I rode the tram three times today, two of the times were quick waits because everyone was back in Mineral :-)

Heading out to the Bookends, snowpack is the best it's been all year, but we're in a freeze-thaw cycle, so you have to follow the sun to get the friendliest surfaces:

Left Mineral after it got quite busy. After one week son of a friend from VA knows Snowbird better than me, here leading me into Rats Nest and upper Great Scott. His skiing progressed a great deal in five days in UT...oh to be young again :icon-lol:

Dropping in to Great Scott:

On the Road to Provo cat track with mighty Pipeline Chute (hike-to only and rarely open) in upper right.

Liz, Stefan and I got out Friday. No day since Tuesday have any of our group gotten out before 11AM with the bulletproof conditions when sun time is 1.5 hours earlier than the daylight time that began Sunday.

We got up the tram about 11:30 and skied 3 runs out past Path to Paradise, having heard favorable reviews from Adam and Eddie who had 4 runs there to start Thursday.

Before we warmed up on Mark Malu and after we took one run on fully softened Baldy about 1PM.

We had lunch at the Nest (I skied Hoops on the way) where we met Al Solish for lunch. We all took a Peruvian run on Chips and Whodunnit and they called it a day. I went back up top and hit a nice line skier’s right in the Rastas for my final run of Iron Blosam Week.

This is probably the only Iron Blosam Week I have not skied in the Cirque. I’m being conservative being worn down by age and skiing 28 of 33 days. I’m now fairly insistent upon some soft snow to ski steeper terrain.

Glad to see JimK still getting after it in Great Scott, etc.! I skied 15,800 on Friday.
