Many ski areas are opening up in VT, ME and even Bellayre in the Catskills.

I am chompin at the bit here, but will likely wait until I have more time to get away. This weekend I have guests and tickets for a show. In a week I have a 4 day weekend, so I may see what's happenin somewhere in NY...probably Gore, if the weather doesn't get too warm up there.

Who is going out for the first lift ride of the season tmrw?

i want to go up to Bellearye but,,i have mucho leaves in my yard :x and to ski just one run. i don't think it is worth it

I'll be at Gore next Fri MAYBE, next Sat and Sun for sure..as Gore would say...weather permitting.

Never been to Bellayre - I think it's as far from NJ as Hunter - but they don't seem to be open?

Belleayre is a nice State run ski area, not as big as Hunter.Further south but it takes 45 min from the thruway at least.great for beginners and good for a day trip but thats all

Unfortunately being close to the Laurentian region isn’t worth much as there is no snow on the ground between MSS and Tremblant. This appears to be taking on a regular pattern. Good pics of high elevation snows in VT and North eastern Quebec. Plan on making multiple trips this year to northern VT so hope it continues.

Hey Sharon,

I will either be at Gore or WF next saturday, whichever one has better conditions (probably WF)

I skied manmade at Kmart. The jacked up season pass price and $60 day ticket seems to have solved the November crowding problem. Saturday was mostly upper Chute to Mouse Trap to lower Bunny Buster. Upper Chute and Mouse Trap had fresh manmade with a few guns going. On Sunday at 8:30, they dropped the rope on East Fall. The first 20 or 30 turns were great until you dropped into the monster whales and water bar whoop-tee-doos with guns blasting. The runout was like skiing through a car wash. Even with Gore-Tex, I had to hit the base lodge after every run to dry off.

Sunday, lower Bunny Buster was groomed out to golf balls over impervious base. It was the only place that felt like the 'old Killington' where you had to worry about getting run down like a dog.

I'll be curious to see what it's like next Saturday. Thanksgiving Saturday is traditionally the most crowded day of the year. They're not wasting snowmaking capacity on novice terrain on Snowshed or Rams Head this year so their rollout is more like the old Preston Smith Killington. They should have a trail pod going off the Superstar lift and are likely to have Cascade going if they get enough cold weather.
