Well I went up to Solitude today and got exactly what I expected, a whole lot of nothing. Since Guardsmans Pass is still open I didn't feel like using one of my Park City Days on just one run. So I made the 20 minute drive up and over and found three lifts running today. If I were Solitudes management I simply would have ran only the Moonbeam lift. Link and Apex were both open but they were open solely so you can access the upper portion of Fleet Street which is probably no more than 300 yards of skiing at best, and icy skiing at that by the time I got there. I got to the mountain shortly after 12:30 pm and the car thermometer read 24 degrees at the base. With the sun shining brightly though temps felt closer to 35 and the skiing was very comfortable. The weather is about the only thing I can comment on because that was the only real enjoyable part of the day. Of the three trails that were open the snow wasn't real nice, basically you were skiing on a 20 yard wide ribbon of snow and ice. Either way it was good to get out.
From the top of the Apex chair you could see Brighton and the Great Western Express and from my vantage point it looked like that entire side of the mountain all the way up to Western Trail was bone dry not an inch of snow up there. I'm thinking its going to take some serious snow to get these places going.
