Steeps: Mt. St. Anne vs. Tremblant??

Hiya! Which of these has the longest, steepest groomed black/blue trails? I know TR has many more "trails", but would like to know which is more challenging.

I found TR trails start out steep the fizzle out.

Longest/Steepest groomers?

Ste-Anne easily. South side blacks like La Crete, La Beauregard, La St-Laurent, La S and Super S (one of the "S" is generally left to bump-up). Montmorency is another, although not as steep for a long period similar to what you would find at Tremblant.

On trail width, how do MSA and Tremblant compare?

No real noticeable difference, however if you start mesuring, Trembalnt steep groomers would generally be larger.

Here some picts from MSA. Currently 43/65 trails open.

Gracias! :D

Let's hope this means winter will last longer at least 'till 4/10, my last planned skiing date.

Read somewhere that the bears and the birds are going crazy in Europe, all screwed up in their cycles. Damn!

Merci Wolverine, :P

Looks balmy.

Yep, first real cold snap of the year. :P At least the snow isn't melting and they can make snow like crazy further South in the province.

For the first time in 2007 at MSA some expert trails were open Sat 20.
The S and Super S (lot of artificial fog there!) and Beauregard (Left side) with 3 huges moguls.
Great fun to ride and still powder in the "S" trail.

Still missing the glades runs like the 3 ones in Black Forest, Brunelle and the new one La Belle. Soon to open.

Great pics as always Wolverine. :P

GPaul, you can see most of the steep groomers (except LaCrete which is further left) and part of steepest part at MSA. Don't let those pictures fool you, these runs are long and steep. Great fun!!!

They also face south. There could be as much dirt as snow April 10, and what snow there is will be slop. You really need to rethink either the timing or location of that trip. This is the the year for western Canada.

Agreed on western Canada, we'll wait and see. But I have my heart set on Quebec, for a change of pace. You know, le joi de vivre! And education, savoir faire to boot!

It won't be that bad... The Quebec City area is colder than Southern Quebec and New England.

Here is my report from April 23nd last year.

I did a quick search on Zoneski for reports with pics from your timeframe GPaul, these are the only ones I could find.

PS. Last year wasn't a great year either...

I asked in another thread but no one responded... what happened to Gpaul's early April trip to Quebec?

Hope he didn't pay attention to Tony's warnings this time.

I've been wondering too. There is much truth to the adage "it's better to be lucky than good," and Gpaul certainly would have been lucky, just as jamesdeluxe was in Banff and I was in Alaska.

Hola amigos! Well, I had to bow out again from yet another 2006-7 trip, due to new business (very good). Looking forward to next season, when, if all goes as planned, we can do Aspen in Xmas, Zermatt in March, and South America in August :D

Thanks for all your info., and hope you get to do some summer skiing.

All the best.

Don't worry, you didn't miss much... just the best late season since the early 70s. Plan ahead and buy plane tickets for April 2015.
