Sugarloaf 1/23 - 1/24

Just returned from a ski weekend at the Loaf. Snowmakers had done an excellent job of covering up the bulletproof surface that covered the mtn on 1/17. Saturday 1/23 temps atop Kinpine quad were -26 without wind! Timberline closed due to wind. Although v-e-r-y cold, skiing was edgable at any speed. Amazing how much better conditions were from 6 days prior! Sunday morning awoke to <BR>-18 at the hillside condo, and the trees were swaying in the breeze. At 8:30 AM all upper chairs, including Spillway were on windhold. By 9:30 the list grew to include all lifts except Snubber, (which is access to base from the condos). Marketing's forecast made it sound as if skiing was just fantastic. Maybe it was if you didn't mind hiking 2800' to the top, wore full-blown expedition clothing, and were tough enough to withstand temps near -30 without windchill. Thanks to their voucher policy another day will be had when it's actually open.

we that live at the loaf have been trying to figure out where that guy( grant daily marketing reporter) has been skiing this year.. anyone have any ideas??? it sure has been nice where ever it is........
