the time is here, the forecast in place, snow cover-all in, snowfields-yep, longest, steepest, most relentlessly fun bump runs in the east starting above treeline-check. 62 degrees, the high for stratton tomorrow after temps in the 20's tonight. a high of 68 on thursday after 20's again tomorrow night. been waiting since last late april for this. the time is now. gravity pilot time after a dozen or more mt washington days lately earnin em. crowded on the rock, quiet at the loaf.

edge grip? no need for edge grip at the loaf the past two days. epic corn skiing with t2b wall to wall coverage was and still is the rule. two days spent skiing all classic snowfield lines down to long, steep, twisty, bump and tree lines to velvety corn groomers to the bottom. 2800 vert o bliss.
drove by wildcat this afternoon and what a sad sight by comparison. sugarloaf only claims 220 inches for the season total which is barely double what they had in the 1st 2 1/2 weeks of april last year and this year has similar coverage. that's what a combo of altitude and latitude will do for ya. patrolers were saying that the top 3rd of the mountain hadn't even softened up this season till 2 days ago, snow preservation. skiing mount washington tomorrow b4 work. george looked good on my drive by.
