Nice read. I will be there Sat afternoon and Sunday morning. The weather is iffy at best, but a little snow is possible up top.
 
First reaction: hiking for a WROD???

Read the TR and one is quickly reminded that zero skier density is by definition NOT a WROD. Grooming is actually a good way to speed up the corn transition process. The problem is that traffic will normally chew it up before the corn can ripen to that effortless consistency. That's why at Mammoth late season I keep an eye on the race-training runs and hit them as soon as the rope drops.

thanx bob. i doubt the mountain will be able to open this weekend. hot tomorrow and an inch of rain saturday. i'm guessing a reopen for nov 5th at the earliest. hopefully sooner. i could be wrong. they'd have to push snow around based on what i saw today.
