Sutton, Quebec

Have not been to Sutton in quite a few years but decided to head east and check it out again as reports had been posted that 12 inches of snow had fallen since the rain from last weekend and there was no new snow in the Laurentians . It was an interesting drive to Sutton as there is no snow on the ground south of Montreal until you are a few miles from the ski area where the elevation rises and the snow returns. The reports were correct as 12 inches of fresh snow had accumulated on the trails and glades. 12 inches on Sutton with its low angle glades makes a big difference as the packed powder mixed with frozen granular was ok for holding an edge. The steeper glades over by chair VI and VII also were holding the snow well with primary conditions of packed powder with frozen granular in the traveled steeper pitches that became scraped down.
