I don't think that I remember a Saturday night so busy around here. Amazing!

That's not necessarily a good thing, right?

Of course it is! Debate is healthy, debate is good. At a bare minimum, debate is interesting.

I'm talking about life in general away from a computer, going out or going to bed early in order to go skiing tomorrow.

Sometimes, people here talk about "it'd be great if there were more traffic here." Obviously, that would work for Admin, and he deserves it for the thousands of hours put in (though he is rewarded in other ways 8-[), but I'm wondering where the tipping point is... where "more traffic is good" becomes "this place is starting to suck like the others."

Selfishly, I like it the way it is.

I've posted a lot this morning. Can you tell that I'm not going skiing today?

I thought this was going to be a thread about Acid Christ.

His nickname at Greek Peak patrol is Traffic.

Well, I'm here because I'm frustrated. Haven't skied in 2 weeks. It's raining in so Cal so no bike ride today. Don't want to ski locally, my condo at Mammoth is rented (they just got 20" of snow at Mammoth!!!), and the weather has been bad for several days and continues bad for our planned drive to Colorado. So I'm reading all the TRs and I am totally bummed.

I should leave the computer and go write my Christmas cards, but we usually do that in the mountains (more Christmas spirit in the snow!) and I am just not motivated. :-({|=

OK, we've already gotten 13 ski days in, but still . . . As one vulture said to the other "I'm tired of waiting, I want to kill something!" :sabre fight:

I never thought of my contributions to the universe as traffic. :-k

I'm with James.

And I guess our interests are only aligned with Admins to a point.

Or...maybe if it got too busy Admin couldn't ski as much...

...with the young people, and flame wars and the swearing!

Which will never happen here. Like I've always said, quality over quantity...but it was nice to see the regulars nearly carrying a real-time conversation!

Speaking of the band "Traffic", I saw Dave Mason play a few weeks ago. He's still a great guitar player and his voice seems to have actually improved. He put on a very good concert.

I thought I was the only FTO regular old enough for such musical tastes. I saw Traffic on a reunion tour in 1994. Dave Mason's Alone Together album is a classic, especially if you have the psychedelic vinyl LP.

In the spirit of complete thread drift:

Who or what are high heeled boys?

I never listened to the words.

You're right, Tony. Dave Mason's "Alone Together", his first solo album (in 1970 or 1971) was a classic rock (and unheralded, IMHO) album. Interestingly, when I saw him in concert a couple of weeks ago, he played some of the songs ("World in Changes", which he said is even more appropriate in these times; "Only you know and I know" and a few others) from that album and they still sound great. I tried to get my 12-year old daughter to go to the concert with me after making her listen to some of his songs in the car, but she opted for a sleep-over with one of her friends. I guess it's hard to compete with Justin Timberlake and some of the other crap kids listen to these days. Also, I was somewhat dismayed to see that Dave Mason is now bald and fat. I guess even rock stars age. Ugh.

It is interesting how the rock stars age. Who would have guessed 40 years ago the kind of shape Mick Jagger would be in? At least it was only Mason's body and not voice that went downhill. I don't remember that from 1994, just how young Steve Winwood still looked.

I guess it's hard to compete with Justin Timberlake and some of the other crap kids listen to these days.
I've learned to be circumspect about musical tastes, as opposed to my opinionated ski comments. I remember well enough OUR parents' opinion of popular music in the 1960's. I saw Bill Cosby do a great generational routine on the subject, "Turn that crap down!"

The younger guys like admin and Patrick must be bored stiff with this thread.

Yea, Steve Winwood has aged much better than many of his rock contemporaries. It was nice to see that Dave Mason, at age 62, still has his voice and his musical talent (he said that he thinks his new album - "26 letters, 12 notes" - is the best one he's ever put out, but it was somewhat sad to see someone in the rock and roll hall of fame playing a small venue for a $7,500 pay day (or thereabouts). I don't mean to be judgmental but I do think that the quality of contemporary music seems to be going downhill over time, when I listen to the crap my daughter listens to. Of course, my father used to say the same thing about the music I listened to in the 70's. I realize this thread has nothing to do with skiing - sorry.

Keith Richards turned 65 today....
Who said , smoking ,drinking and drugs hurts...The man's dead and he doesn't even know it....
