I'm personally debating If I should get crampons for my next May ski day? I already have an ice axe. Why? No bootpack where we're planning to go.
 
crampons... if you do get them , take the time to learn how to move with them..ie: french technique.
if you don't they can become more of a danger with than without....

French technique is real easy in plastic ski boots.

Not.

It's pretty much front pointing or nothing, if you've got them attached to ski boots. Which relegates you to 35+ degree terrain.
 
Sort of stiff.

Especially compared to these.
