Where are the boys from Jay Peak?

I was hoping to see a first hand report on what is going on up there. Seems from the website that over 2' of snow has fallen and more on the way. Just wondering what the skiing is like. Seems exceptional for this early. One year I went up there for Thanksgiving and all we skied was Jet, over and over. I'm considering a trip up there soon, but since it is a 7 hour drive, I would like to go when the skiing is good. Since I haven't yet skied since August, any skiing will be good, but more is better...more snow and more terrain. It may be worth the drive. I'd like to hear what the boys who are up there are sayin about it.

Definitely worth the drive though be careful this weekend as who knows if we will get snow or rain. If it snows, it should be pretty darned good. If Jay gets rain, then it will be no different than any other ski area that is open this weekend. The reported two feet is not an exaggeration. Nhski got some video from last Saturday...

The Jay peak videos from last weekend are incredible.I really can’t believe I was sitting in garage waiting to have my snow tires put on only 2 hours north of Jay with not a flake of snow in sight having to listen to people complain about the upcoming winter. :? Eastern skiing :!: You gotta go when the goings good.

I was down there this w-e. Incredible for this early in the game!

People (as always) were riding all over the mountain. I didn't venture much in the woods... With no base, it's really dangerous to hit something lying underneath that small layer of snow.

Coverage on the trails was amazing... I didn't hit a single thing all day... We rode around the Jet area all morning and after lunch ventured over to the bonny quad area... Pretty deep stuff! Can-Am had a good 20-24in of snow pretty much all over! We did it 3 times in a row... To finish it up, we were pretty satisfied with Milk Run who had seen lots of traffics but the snow was still very light! Snow is pretty much limited to the mountain because there is about 3in at home only 10min away!

Now i hope things cool down... We had a bit of snow last night in Montreal... Still some white in the city... But if it stays cold, we'll get some more great riding... If it r***, we'll have just another November w-e!

Look at lots of riding opportunities in Jay if this falls all into snow... Pretty much every intermediate trail should be open and a few experts trails... As for woods, i would still be really careful!

Hope this helps a bit!

powderfreak seems to indicate rain is definitely in the forecast for Jay these next two days. At the least, a "wintery mix" at a minimum, so a lot depends when the change over happens and how much Jay picks up going into the weekend as to how well it will recover. As far as the woods go, on map glades were just barely doable last weekend being rather cautious and sticking to open lines. I probably would be bother venturing off the beaten path this weekend unless snow following the NCP is at least a foot.

Ottawa is Winter Wonderland this morning and light snow is supposed to continue and Fortune is open, however I need to kept some vacation days in stock for this Winter. Tremblant is also opening today and only has snow in the forecast. I think that Tremblant is the clear winner for the next few days (of course, I'm talking at within a reasonable driving distance).
