Hey Now,

New member with my first post. :D This looks like a great board.

My weekend just opened up.... Any suggestions on where to go in southern to mid Vermont tomorrow and Sunday?

I figure they've gotta have good snowmaking.

You're right.

I'm not entirely certain how far up the mixed precip yesterday went. I know that Sugarbush fared well, per reports that I've seen elsewhere, and much was on wind hold there today which means that a lot of the new snow will still be available tomorrow. But most people consider the Bush to be northern VT, and I'm not sure how far you're willing to drive.

Killington, I'd guess, will be a zoo tomorrow, and ASC hasn't been spending much on snowmaking at Pico. Moving south, Okemo should be a good bet if you like groomers -- I think that they reported around 8" new yesterday, and I don't know if they got any mixing.

Forget Magic. Bromley should be OK on the groomers, but without checking I wouldn't expect much of the East Side to be open at all for steeper runs. Stratton should be OK, but pricey and relatively tame.

Based on yesterday's weather here in Albany, I'm sure that Mt. Snow got mixed precip.

You need, though, to look at tomorrow's weather event when making your decision, and that makes the northern Berkshires and northern Catskills look better than VT. See our own forecaster's prognostications here.

In retrospect, I guess I wasn't much help - I probably raised more questions than I answered, huh?

Hey Marc,

Yeah, I was thinking that Killington was as far as I'd want to drive tonight. Sugarbush is a good 6 hours from home. Hmmm, maybe stay in WRJ and then drive to the 'Bush in the morning. I love that place. Been going there for over 30 years. Sure miss the Gondola.....

It's still a toss up.... I was thinking that I'd like to hit Okemo, as I've never been there and they report 6" of snow. I still need to mull things over with my ski bud.

I'll post a report on Monday.

Thanks for a great resource. I've been sub'd to the mailing list for a couple of years, but never checked out the boards. Looks like a good bunch of regulars!

All the best,

Rich in Katonah
