Reports of a BIG landslide on Whistler peak today. It affected the area between Pacer Chute and West Cirque. Understandably, Peak Chair is closed for the foreseeable future. No reports of injuries that I’m aware.

Wow! Looks like the entire arete above pacer chute collapsed.

I am surprised this occurred during the winter. I would have expected the frozen ground to lock the soil in. Was it raining to the peak?

The timing is surprising. Freezing levels were at the valley bottom. It occurred around 630am before WSP started avalanche control.
