One lonely gun putting out a spit of marketing snow is not "making snow". 8)

better than, "marketing nothing"

ya know marc? i have this vision. a vision of what it must be like to be around you, or worse, be you. somewhere in the archives of past reports here is the only visual that i have of you. it's a pic of you on a chair lift next to but not very close to a woman. maybe you know her or maybe you don't. anyway, it looks to be a beautiful day yet you look like you are having a horrible time and basically a joy to be around.

i'd love to see that photo just one more time. i'm not writing this in anger marc, just tellin it how i see it. forums aregood for that.

marc= :troll:

Ice wasn't lying. Marc doesn't look like he's enjoying himself. :-)

Come on..., you live in Sandy, next to the mecca of North American Skiing. Try to smile a bit. :wink:

I remember that. You'll notice Pat isn't all smiles either. What was the date/time on that photo? Obviously spring...
If it was later in the day....

So is M1 now the resident curmudgeon? :hijack:
It's a thankless job, but someone has to do it. Although joegm seems to have the mogul department adequately covered.
You want curmudgeon? Go read some of the replies by jt512 on rockclimbing.com.

Its good to see the guns fired up. I will be there opening day. I think it will be the 30th of Oct and have taken the day off.

I haven't skied before Thanksgiving for 10 years. My wife and I went to K-mart ten years ago for Thankgiving and hiked bare trails for three days. They forgot to tell us that they closed due to lack of snow. Actually, their website said they were open. To add to the insult, we turned down an invite to Jackson Hole and later found out that they got dumped on and our family out there skied Teton Pass all holiday. My first trip this year will be in December out West. I'll never do the NE before Xmas again. [-(

I skied Thanksgiving Day at KMart in 1998. It was open though it was incredibly bad. I can remember offloading on the Canyon quad at around 8:30. I burst out laughing. The only thing open was Rime and it was rocks, dirt, and grass in every trough. I took 3 or 4 runs and downloaded. If you looked at their web site on Wednesday or Thursday, they were indeed open. It was way too warm & wet to survive the long weekend.

Those Novembers happen from time to time.

We arrived on Friday. They were closed by then. No refund either!! ](*,)

This is dangerous logic, well off the mark IMHO. All areas have slow starts sometimes. The odds of favorable coinditions don't cross 50% until about Dec. 15 even in the most reliable places.

The more sensible version of the above statement would be:

"My first trip this year will be when it snows somewhere within driving distance. I'll never commit advance $$$ for a trip before Xmas." And if you hate crowds and are thrifty, modify that to "before New Year's."
