Zermatt: Rote Nase Cable Car Policy / Hohtälli zone

I am not sure what is going on with Zermatt, but operationally, it has not lived up to its potential in the 2020s.

I have only been watching closely for the last 4-5 years or so, but I noticed that many of its yellow itineraries never officially opened, even though they likely had adequate coverage by later in the season.

This has been the case for:
  • Rothorn
  • Hohtalli (The Rote Nase Cable Car appears to have never opened to the public, which prevents most access to the Stockhorn zone.)
Without access to these areas, Zermatt's reputation as a top expert and off-piste destination is severely compromised. And likely would not recommend.

Also, even today in April, Cevinia keeps all its lifts and runs open, unlike Zermatt. Just seems odd.
