Invest in Jay Peak, get a green card

Sounds familiar, I think this part of the package was announced when Jay Peak was sold. Sounds perfectly cool to me. Invest a ton in a major business that is growing, creating more jobs, etc. and get a benefit. It could be seen as "buying a green card" I guess, but this country is built upon...

    Here ya go, Joe

 joegm has full usage of paragraphs and grammar AND I understood his post completely. Say it ain't.... no, scratch that. =D> Just kidding with ya Joe. We may agree to disagree on some stuff but you inflict on torture on me. Given Sugarbush's approach with their management...

3rd great winter in a row?

I think various locations in the northeast had varying degrees of success last year, and indeed any given year. Last year was a record and banner year for almost every single New Hampshire mountain. To argue against last year being a sensational winter from NH's perspective would be arguing...

    halloween skiing again-sunday rivah!

Having skied Mansfield on Thursday, there was ample base and good untracked. Can't fault a guy for staying close to home for free skiing though. 8) Was worth my vacation day for sure and its not like I don't have 14 more to burn this winter.

    Vermont Snow Updates 2008-09

A lot of variations in the reporting. Would really like an update from Jay. Gotta wonder if that 8" is base or summit. I would assume base?

    Eastern NoAm Weather 2008-09

Whoa, nice maps. I'll have to book mark those! I like the 10+ estimate for northern VT. Congrats to our NY brethren (and VTers crossing the pond) on first tracks tomorrow in well over a foot of fresh, sweet! I'll get mine later this week.

    Peak Foliage ends

Yup. Been sensational here in between the lakes and the whites. Best I have seen it in years. There was an early cold snap early in the month and then moderate temps with little wind or rain for two weeks. Great show. Just rained and the wind started blowing earlier this week and peak has past...

Nice. Congrats on the photo contest win. That day was so friggin off the hook. I had deeper days last year but that is still the one day I remember most fondly and think of most often since the season ended.

    A-Basin opens Wednesday

Wow. $49.00 for one run. Supply and demand at its finest. Seems about right considering how many people will be lining up to ski this week. Clearly they can command that type of premium.

    boyne aka asc 2

That was just for a day or two, not the official opening. Which deserves props. But you can't just leave it at "Open in oct" without a clarifier. Opening weekend was November 10th along with others. Geoff is on point. In a tough business facing economic down turns and infrastructure and...

Ski Area Logos: Best and Worst

The "JAY" part of the Jay Peak logo is indeed classic. And the absolute worst logo design of any major ski area in New England (IMO). Ick. I like the Jay logo with the blue and green snowflake. Jamesdeluxe confuses me though by picking on Jay for the snowflakeleaf but highlighting Mad River as a...

Mad River Glen Skiing Mag article

Yea. Which is why a large majority of urban club goers at ubran club nights are non-white. And they wear the "appropriate" clothing to get in the door. I really believe that. And a man of color actually being able to afford nice clothes and go golfing or clubbing at a place that has a...

Mad River Glen Skiing Mag article

Care to speak towards the examples I posted and defend them as well? Because I think I drew some pretty interesting parallels and comparisons with other industries that "discriminate". After all, only ultra rich people golf so it is clearly discrimination not to allow ripped jeans on a golf...

Mall ( &&$/=P[¨¡ ) near Skiing in NE?????

Burlington is the closest mall to good skiing less than an hour away from almost any thing along the spine of the Green's from Bush to Stowe and Jay just a little further. North Conway does not have a mall perse but Route 16 is strip mall and outlet central so they can knock themselves out. West...

Mad River Glen Skiing Mag article

C'mon. If you are going to engage in a discussion or argument, there has to be common points and agreed upon usage of words. The definition of discrimination is an action or lack thereof due to a quality of a PERSON. Snowboarding and skiing are not qualities that define people but rather actions...

(Non-skiing) Sea kayaking Flaming Gorge, UT

A lot of nice shots. Looks like a fantastic area for paddling. S and I were supposed to be buying kayaks this summer but my bonus didn't come through as planned. So we've been demoing like crazy and will make the purchase next year. Padding is so much fun.

    It's the economy stupid!

Being in the business of retail management myself, I am always surprised by how much inventory gets held over for clearance during the summer. Clearance is a part of the business and a good part if purchases are done correctly. But large clearance of normally full priced items being held over...

    Service outage prompts big changes

FWIW, as a fellow webmaster with far smaller of a web site with fewer pages of content and no forums, admin has already done a stunning job with the transition on such short notice. I dread updating my WordPress CMS due to all the backups and crossing fingers that plugins continue to work and...
