Yes, "groomers" are far more prevalent in other areas surrounding SLC. But, the general lack of groomers is precisely why we live near BCC and LCC. I also wouldn't describe an Alta "groomer" as "perfect corduroy" either. As a season pass holder I chose to locate 16 miles from the...

Alta today was day 13 for me. The rattling, chattering, scraping, and roaring of my skis as we dropped down those freshly groomed steeps made me realize why I sold my house and moved 2,300 miles to come and ski here in UT. Those were sounds I heard far too often whenever I skied in the NE...

Hey Kingslug I'm sure I can speak for the crew and say that we all look forward to seeing you again out here on the greatest snow on earth.

    if this were snow!

You are very right Tony. And, it was always very time, money, and energy consuming to get to the snow. However, it seems that Marc_C and I have cut those distances down a bit. I now live 16 miles from the Snowbird Tram, and for Marc_C it is probably under 12. I may hook up with an east coast...

Just a thought, and not to hijack this thread. Why not set up a "tower pad retrieval team?" Put somone on a lift chair (with a safety harness hook-up) equipped with a winch or pulley set-up and a radio. Have the team member(s) at the base of each tower undo the attachments, hook up the cable...

Thanks Marc. Each time I join you and the crew, you surprise me with a tour to/through another aspect of Alta. The powder shots are awesome! But, can you do anything about "grooming" those traverses? They really make me aware of my age. :(

    if this were snow!

Sorry rivercOil I wasn't referring to you. It was about the "shizzler" aka icelanticskier.

    if this were snow!

Be careful Marc or he will "shizzle your izzle" or whatever evil things they can think of in Jr. HS. Next thing you know, he will learn about using upper case letters and (I'm warning you!) he might use them on you. On the other hand, he must have left school too early, before they covered...

You are certainly entitled to your opinions, but don't be an anal orifice. The name is spelled "Tirolerpeter."

    if this were snow!

Hey everybody, if you're going to dish some out, be prepared to get some back. A little "Tit for Tat" and everybody gets all sensitive. Regardless, today was AWESOME at Alta. While it was a little snowy and the partly cloudy in the valley yesterday, it DUMPED overnight at the top. Our...

Wow! I guess ripping up those those east coast glacier runs and rattling over those death cookies stirs up the brain and awakens his muse.

    Alta Thursday 1/10

After a two day break (lots to do in my "nonskiing" life) I decided to take a run up LCC to see what effect the last 48 hours of snowy weather had had on either Alta or Snowbird. Skies were sunny and no new snow was predicted until later in the day. My "retiree" start had me leaving the house...

Susan thanks you for the video record of our day skiing Wildcat. Since she doesn't ski she has never actually seen me on the slopes. BTW, did you really have to include that last little bit of my "Extreme Tree Skiing" adventure? :-)

    Powder Skis/Reverse Camber Skis

I did consider the 180 cm length, but since the trend has been to "shorter" skis I went with the 170's. In retrospect, I would go with the 180's since I find them so light and easy to handle. Nevertheless, I am very pleased with what I have now and enjoy them immensely!

I should have called either or both Admin and Marc_C this AM. Regardless, I got a late ("retiree") start and decided to stop at Snowbird around 11:45. I got to park in what a cop said was the "health club" parking lot since all other areas were filled. I hiked across the road and dropped down...
