Serre Chevalier, France: April 3, 2025

By definition it may be a 'mega' resort but one of it's appeals is that it doesn't really feel like one. In my view of course.

Thanks for reminding me how much I liked SC. It's worth mentioning that the Bureau Des Guides in Villeneuve do group guiding at 100Euro per day. No need to book further than a day in advance. https://guides-serrechevalier.com/

Looks a lovely area to hike in. You are lucky people living close to such a beautiful part of the world.

Euro School Holiday Calendar for Upcoming Season

Kind of related. I’ll be going to Slovenia and Croatia and Dolomites for non snow hiking next year. We don’t want peak crowds or peak summer heat. Does anyone have a good argument for June or September?

Midnight Oil and Other Oz Music

Just a good guess. I figured an ex lead guitarist would spend most of their time at places at Aspen or Verbier. And you’ve obviously got your stuff sorted to be able to go to regular trips to Europe so that makes it unlikely you were a drummer. :) Perhaps when Tony finally arranges a forum...

Midnight Oil and Other Oz Music

What a great era for Australian rock music. Did The Angels make a ripple over the Pacific? This is definitely a top ten Oz rock song in my opinion. And the concert classic with lyrics by the audience.

Midnight Oil and Other Oz Music

I was 19 in 1991 so very much into the live band thing at that stage. (Our legal drinking/pub age is 18). I was an avid watcher of Countdown and never missed it from about 1978 to whenever it ceased. Countdown was our modern day equivalent to Bandstand I guess. The host of the show, Ian ‘Molly’...

That's sobering. Is that an anomaly or true for South America in general?

Much more so than Coronet Peak and Cardrona.

    Oz/NZ 2025

The tussock grass makes for a good base apparently and requires minimal coverage according to the people that toured us around last September. https://www.firsttracksonline.com/boards/threads/coronet-peak-nz-9-11-2024.15057/

Western US snowpack info for 2025

Thanks. I had seen that info on your site. I thought you may have the averages broken into monthly data. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen your monthly data for some mountains?

Western US snowpack info for 2025

@Tony Crocker I don’t suppose you have the Canadian mountains (namely Sun Peaks) monthly snowfall averages? I know a fellow who owns a place there and he is of the belief they get “10 metres of snow a season and most of it falls in December”.

    Oz/NZ 2025

There are rumours Albo is wanting to make NZ our seventh state…… Seriously though Kiwis are always welcome here because they are generally great people and good workers. But Kiwi immigrants are just a small part of the problem that is our insane housing crisis.

    Oz/NZ 2025

I can't offer any comparison between the two but if you go to the South Island of NZ be sure to check out Treble Cone. In my limited experience it's light years better than any other lift served skiing in this part of the world.
