According to the latest avalanche bulletin of the Gaspesia avalanche center (jan 31, 2006), the actual snowdepth at 2000' (mid-mountains) is only 37 inches... which seems to me EXTREMELY low for this time of the year, effectively... You can have an english report here (PDF) for jan 31...

With Alta closed for skiing midweek actually, the 4-5" expected + all the powder left after last week snowfall, it should be rated as a powder day this saturday... so I should be there at the opening... hmmmm... powder !

Snowfalls for Mt Glen : (according to http://www.quebecskisurf.com) 2003-04 : 462cm (182") 2002-03 : 307cm (121") 2001-02 : 380cm (150") 2000-01 : 515cm (203") The mountain top was around 2000'... which is about the base of the mountain at Jay Peak. There is no big peaks in this area neither...

I would say 3h... at 8h30 it was almost tough to advance in the Chute Libre... too much snow at 12h, there wasn't a single trace of powder left in that trail... all packed with rocks...

ok, let's say then that it was some "champagne powder" for some Quebec chowder ;) Looks like it was way more fluffy than in the other places where we've seen some videos. I guess it's with the higher elevation + particular microclimate of the area... anyway, sorry if the word wasn't the best...
