    Another Storm A'brewin?

Potential Eastern Snowstorm this WeekendUpdated: Monday, December 14, 2009 2:47 PM The southern Appalachians through the Northeast could be dealing with a snowstorm this weekend, as a storm moving out of the Gulf of Mexico meets up with just enough cold air to the north. \:D/ At this...

Jonesing for a Trip Out West

I agree completely. Going from 180' to 8,000' hurts the lungs a bit, not to mention skinning at 10-12K'. I always feel OK the first day, good the second, and crash on the 3rd day on these trips.....

Jonesing for a Trip Out West

As of now, I am booked to go to Jackson the first week of February, Summit Co. Colorado the third week of February and Silverton the first week of March. I was trying to go to Alta January 7-11 for a backcountry clinic, but my wife has a business trip that week and I have to watch the kids at...

The claim to get the most snow in Colorado. :-k Current Snowfall Summit Base Depth : 76 Inches Last 24 Hours : 13 Inches Last 48 Hours : 27 inches...

it wasn't snow: Greek Peak 12/13/09

I agree. My days of skiing in the rain are long gone. There is nothing worst than skiing in freezing rain!! I'd rather rest my legs in a liftline after tracking up fresh powder, any day!!

Best Chance for Face Shot in North East

Holiday Valley, New York? Very windy Thursday AM, cold and heavy snow through the weekend. Lake effect snow through Saturday morning with feet of snow possible. Thursday high 22 low 15, Friday 22/14. A bit warmer during the day over the weekend with possible sun on Sunday. =D> Great thing...

    Where to take the family?

Thanks guys, all good advice. Of course, with kids that young there are never any guarantees that we will see much skiing. I will run it past the boss (guess who that is?) and see if we can surpass the four hour drive limit by 15 minutes to get to White Face. [-( Otherwise, maybe Mount Snow.

    Where to take the family?

OK, after all my hot air about skiing primarily out West, I am going to put myself out there and ask for some advice on where to take the family (New England bred wife who rips and my 5 yr old skier and 2 yr old slider) skiing within 3-4 hours of NYC. I am not too happy about my experiences at...

Hype or No Hype, that is the question?

Latest Thinking on Weekend East Coast StormUpdated: Wednesday, December 02, 2009 8:14 AM There continues to be concern here at AccuWeather.com that a storm may bring snow to the East Coast this weekend. Enough cold air will be in place, but the key to where and if any snow falls will be the...

    Storm Prediction High/Low

If that picture is evidence of the snow at Cannon, then we have a winner!! But, if not, we may need to have someone drive over there with a ruler and camera... :-D

    Storm Prediction High/Low

Horseshoe Rules do not apply, but that was close. I am still holding to my December 9th prediction. The 15 day forecast is now playing in my favor. And a little dumb luck too!!! \:D/

    November 2009 = pathetic

I think that ski-nuts (like us) tend to set ourselves up for disappointment every year by drinking the ski industry's Cool Aid and thinking that we will get good turns in prior to Thanksgiving. I can count on one hand in 39 years of skiing how many times I was rewarded with good conditions...

Turkey and Turns Not Looking Likely in NE

This photo brings back memories of my wife and I driving 7 hours to Killington during Thanksgiving 1999 only to find fog and mud. Killington said that they were open for skiing right up to time that we got in the car that morning. That was my last trip to K-Mart. Sadly, that's were...

Turkey and Turns Not Looking Likely in NE

Sorry for my misinterpretation. I agree that corn skiing is much better than crud, crust, dust on crust and any other variation of melted and hard frozen snow. But just for fun..... let's talk East vs. West!!!

Turkey and Turns Not Looking Likely in NE

It's amazing how every topic turns into an East Coast - West Coast war..... I feel like skiing is now part of the Hip Hop culture. Ain't no way you could compare Massachusetts corn skiing with Utah / Wyoming corn.... PLUS out West you could ski corn into late June. :sabre fight:
