<!-Quote-!>Quote:
Sorry Marc, I don't have the equipment necessary for Gulf Of Slides and even though I look for an attempt to Mt Washington next week, I think it would be dangerous for me to not head to Tucks. <!-/Quote-!>

I'm not quite sure what you mean, Frank. As the Gulf of Slides Ski Trail is no longer skiable, there's no equipment for GOS that's different than equipment for Tuckerman. Even if the GOS Ski Trail was covered, which it isn't, you could rent snowshoes in North Conway for only a couple of dollars per day. Snowboarders regularly ascend the GOS Ski Trail via snowshoes, it's just postholing that's a no-no. I'd have to snowshoe as well if there was snow on the GOS Ski Trail as my AT setup isn't yet complete (I'm working on it, though - I've got Völkl Explosivs on order and I'm shopping around for a deal on Fritchis, AT boots and skins even as we speak).

As for it being dangerous, GOS is much less steep than Tuckerman, not to mention that it's not filled with yahoos like Tucks is.

If you're going to Mt W. this weekend, come along to GOS and avoid the insanity of a spring weekend in Tucks.
