Hey, was I just thrown under the bus?

Not a bus really ... just a CRV. 8)

Jason ... if you can deliver enough snow next week to get me back into the trees at Gore, you know legally ....

I'll pull you out from underneath. :-D

This next weekend looks to put a bunch of snow on these mountains which have not recieved their average amounts. It looks to be a nice event. BTW, just 1 rain event is pretty darn good. I would rather get a bit less snow and less rain than 1 rain event out of 4 storms.

Plattekill is the call for Saturday. \:D/

I like that this is a little-at-a-time event instead of one big dump.

NOAA forecast:
Today: 1 to 2 inches possible.
Tonight: 6 to 10 inches possible.
Wednesday: 2 to 4 inches possible.
Wednesday Night: Snow showers. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Thursday: Snow. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
Thursday Night: Snow. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Friday: Snow showers likely. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

You might want to go further north because Thursday-Saturday is going be pretty big just a bit up.
You mean Gore may actually get some natural snow this season?

Gore should get 6-12 inches tonight and tomorrow, and then they should continue to get hard through friday night. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up with 20-30 inches by next sunday. The picture should be the same with whiteface, except whiteface will get less out of the the first wave tonight and tomorrow, and the big hit should be thursday-saturday.

Vermont will get hit even harder I believe. The GFS is showing that New Hampshire/Maine should get crushed.

While I was waiting for the bus and I saw someone with her cross-country ski on. I don't live in the country, I live 2km from downtown Ottawa.

Ski racing tomorrow night...busy busy times....can't go tonight.

Plattekill for friday because they are the only place closed until then, si it will be all untouched...have to see about the weekend though.

Unless they open for a Powder Daize before Friday.

Regardless, if this storm pans out, there should be refills through Saturday.

All of the Catskills (including the usually natural snow-impaired Hunter/Windham) got two feet yesterday and Plattekill has called a Powder Daize for Thursday. Sounds like it was heavy, so the woods should be ready for action after the next two feet fall between now and Saturday.

Waiting for Jason's NYS-specific update:

Hunter is reporting 22 inches! Whereas Belleayre is reporting 9-10. All of vermont and the daks are reporting 14 and above! I may not get a powder day this weekend, but I will certainly have very good conditions to fool around in. Perhaps, I can get a run or two in the trees with untracked. \:D/

From the top of Belleayre's home page:

SNOW CONDITIONS:
New Snow: 21
Total Snow: 109
Current Temp: 28

 I misread their website. I saw the 109 and figured they meant 10-9 inches. My mistake. Either way, the catskills got crushed, and this thing isn't done either!

North of ludlow should be fine in vermont. I was just looking on NOAA. The catskills are going to get crushed, and the daks are going to get it good too!

North of ludlow should be fine in vermont.

i have to disagree..All of vermont stands the chance of mixed..540 thickness is west of lake champlain and so is the 850mb zero line..later on on thursday the temps collapse and everyone will go back to snow.

I was amazed at the consistency of the snowfall across NY and VT so far.

Seems like tonight everyone reported between 20 - 26 inches.

I was going by noaa's report:
IT APPEARS THAT TERRAIN WILL PLAY A LARGE ROLE IN DETERMINING
PTYPE WITH EAST UPSLOPE COOLING (SNOW) AND WEST SLOPE DOWNSLOPE
WARMING (RAIN). FOR NOW EXPECTING GENERALLY 6-12 INCHES IN THE
HIGHER TERRAIN...MAINLY ALONG AND EAST OF THE SLOPES OF HIGHER TERRAIN.
SOME VALLEY LOCATIONS COULD SEE VERY LITTLE SNOW.

COULD GO EITHER WAY IN THE CHAMPLAIN VALLEY AS NAM SHOWS SOME
NORTHERLY COMPONENT OF THE WIND INTO THE VALLEY WHICH TENDS TO
KEEP IT COOLER. HAVE PLAYED IT MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHICH WOULD LEAD
TO WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES OR OPEN THE DOOR FOR WARNINGS TO BE
ISSUED IF IT BECOMES CLEARER TONIGHT OR TOMORROW MORNING.

This is a confusing storm, the catskills are all snow till saturday night when it becomes rain. Whereas further north and to the east places like gore have sleet/freezing rain friday night but then snow saturday night. Looks like plattekill is the best place to go for the entire weekend.
