Opens for the first time in a few years. (I believe there is a discussion on the whys, whens of the places - but it's late).

I found out a few days ago, but I've been busy with little or no internet access.

So new owner re-opens mountain for weekend only.

Limits to 300 tickets a day. Only available through their website.

Price of tickets: $50

The return of Peg's Leg. Fantastic news, though kinda odd that they opened so late in the season.

The place has a really cool vibe. I assume they had to replace the main chair.

Not sure on anything. Remember the discussion on this potential becoming a private club?

Don't think they changed anything. My understanding is that they are running at bare minimum (you can only buy tix via internet). Not sure on this (I think I've mentioned this at the time the place shutdown), that the excuse of the lifts, was just an excuse for shutting down.

I believe that Frankontour is heading that way tomorrow (check out zoneski.com for more news - I'm still in a daze from my last week).

Maybe you should reread Admin's terms and conditions about posting TRs in a timely manner (I think JSpin was grandfathered in a previous agreement).

You're expecting Patrick to report from last week? Hell, he's only about 1/4 done with Chile from last September.

Well the experiment has ended...for now???

A decision was made on Wednesday to shutdown the weekend opening for the season.

The plan was to open on weekend during the month of March.

Note: It started on March 1-2. Great success and powder.
9-10: Closed due to rain/freezing rain in the Townships while the rest of the province is in an historic snowstorm.
15-16: Problems with the lift. Can't get it fix until after the weekend.

Not a lot of people showed up and the guy who was running things apparently bailed.
Yep...

First weekend got 220 when the daily limit was 300/day.
2nd weekend 18 and 16 skiers showed up even if the lift was out-of-service.
3rd weekend, he bailed due to the weather.

Zoneski discussion about this story (in French)

Some people mentioned the price ($50) compare to the cheap skiing at Bromont. Hill without snowmaking and comparing it to Shefford (closed with no snowmaking). Tickets on-sale only on the internet.

My opinions is:

1) Last minutes announcement that the mountain will open on weekend in March. How many people were aware?
2) Ticket only through internet. Hard show up at the last minute or people without internet (or high speed) from their cottages.
3) Price. $50 is too much for Glen, unless they want to turn into a private club. However if you go that route, you cannot have a "granola bar" diet when they charging for steak.

About other points made during the discussion, you cannot compare snow level between Bromont and Glen or Shefford and Glen. Sutton gets more snow than Bromont. Glen gets more snow than Bromont/Shefford. Bromont also offer McSkiing, if they want a comparison, look at Sutton with it's many lifts and glades.

Thanks for the link. I'd spend more time at Zoneski if there weren't so many subcategories. It makes my head spin having to search through a separate forum for every goddamn thing, and their mania of archiving everything... blech. Admin deserves kudos for keeping it nice and simple here.

I hope they can figure out a good formula for Glen. The weekend in the Townships when I nixed Orford and Sutton for Glen and Shefford was one of my favorite trips ever. Is Shefford DOA? Sad, they've got nice trees there, and it seemed like they were serious about expanding trails.

I used to write often on ZS in the past, but I've cut it down to a trickle. I don't have as much time there are a things that bug like the noise ratio, archiving, moving stuff (Tony would freakout with all the broken links), deletion of posts or topics in the past.

Shefford is in a coma, not sure if it can be revived? Bromont is big and has dirt cheap passes and it's virtually next door. I have personnally never been, unless when I was a toddler or young kid (possible).

I hope Glen makes it, however I have issue about the way it might be done. The mountain is owned by a real estate developer that doesn't much about the ski industry. Glen is a gem. If it wasn't for Glen, I would probably not been here today.

Is Glen to Montreal skiers what Mt. Waterman is to L.A. skiers??? There's a bit of deja vu to those March weekend stories.

I don't think so, but I gave up ready that Waterman thread at page 2. Sorry Tony, I don't anything about Waterman-LA story.

The new owner (non-skiing owner) was making a trial balloon out of this March weekend opening, the place could have opened in early December this year.

The new Waterman owner appears to be more serious. There were a lot of glitches during the 5 weekends open this year, but they view it as a learning experience to make it work better in future seasons.
