Not a lot of people showed up and the guy who was running things apparently bailed.
Yep...
First weekend got 220 when the daily limit was 300/day.
2nd weekend 18 and 16 skiers showed up even if the lift was out-of-service.
3rd weekend, he bailed due to the weather.
Zoneski discussion about this story (in French)
Some people mentioned the price ($50) compare to the cheap skiing at Bromont. Hill without snowmaking and comparing it to Shefford (closed with no snowmaking). Tickets on-sale only on the internet.
My opinions is:
1) Last minutes announcement that the mountain will open on weekend in March. How many people were aware?
2) Ticket only through internet. Hard show up at the last minute or people without internet (or high speed) from their cottages.
3) Price. $50 is too much for Glen, unless they want to turn into a private club. However if you go that route, you cannot have a "granola bar" diet when they charging for steak.
About other points made during the discussion, you cannot compare snow level between Bromont and Glen or Shefford and Glen. Sutton gets more snow than Bromont. Glen gets more snow than Bromont/Shefford. Bromont also offer McSkiing, if they want a comparison, look at Sutton with it's many lifts and glades.
