HOSED. well not completely. drove to sugarloaf in a driving rain/wintery mix last night with a bit more enthusiasm than was necessary. woke up to more rain and increased winds and made the call with reports of falling temps for the day. sunday river it would be. with the most open bowling alley skiing around and warmer temps it was the logical choice.

left the loaf at 8:15 and was on the barker lift by 10:15, to realize that i'd made a very wise choice. perfect spring conditions-total hero snow, maybe 100 skiers max on 28 trails. if there ain't no powdah, i'll take corn any day. better conditions in fact than most days in mid winter with no new snow (normal for these parts ya know).

the highlight was a little ditty called south paw that i named little agony today. perfect spring bumps from top to bottom, not those typical joey bumps that form on white sheet or agony. bumps, berms, whales, drops, not a speck of anything firm. did 6 or so laps on that with a toothy grin.

temps are droppin fast and snowmaking will resume on all trails tonight to meet a calm sunny day tomorrow-i must and will go back for more, i mean whattaya want, it's november! maybe it won't be quite as crowded tomorrow, ha!

boyne's doing a great job for maine skiing.

yo ice,
if you see this you will have the ability to greatly help out a couple of roadtripers leaving wed trying to figure out where to go .... was the trail "right stuff" moguled up?.. were any trails you can remember significantly moguled up?

thanks a lot for any info

word.
right stuff was typical bowling lane with hero cream as was everything else from locke to north peak. the only exceptions were parts of american express and that newer trail south paw that had some of the nicest bumps the whole way that i've ever skied at the river and i worked and skied there for 7 years, they should leave that thing bumped all winter.

however, if you're coming up wednesday, check the forecast for all of new england cuz some areas may see some new snow and it probably won't be at sunday river. vermont will probably get something worthwhile as lake champlain is still wide open. thursday may be the day. my days off for the winter are tues-wed weekly so i won't be up, riding the mtb instead.

i'll be at the river tomorrow cuz i'm here and it was good skiing-all things considered. sugarloaf isn't where the river is yet.

have fun
