HOSED. well not completely. drove to sugarloaf in a driving rain/wintery mix last night with a bit more enthusiasm than was necessary. woke up to more rain and increased winds and made the call with reports of falling temps for the day. sunday river it would be. with the most open bowling alley skiing around and warmer temps it was the logical choice.
left the loaf at 8:15 and was on the barker lift by 10:15, to realize that i'd made a very wise choice. perfect spring conditions-total hero snow, maybe 100 skiers max on 28 trails. if there ain't no powdah, i'll take corn any day. better conditions in fact than most days in mid winter with no new snow (normal for these parts ya know).
the highlight was a little ditty called south paw that i named little agony today. perfect spring bumps from top to bottom, not those typical joey bumps that form on white sheet or agony. bumps, berms, whales, drops, not a speck of anything firm. did 6 or so laps on that with a toothy grin.
temps are droppin fast and snowmaking will resume on all trails tonight to meet a calm sunny day tomorrow-i must and will go back for more, i mean whattaya want, it's november! maybe it won't be quite as crowded tomorrow, ha!
boyne's doing a great job for maine skiing.
