i guess you peaked at the 12z gfs.. possible the ugliest run i have seen in a long time
This sort of thing is the exact reason that I packed up and moved 2,000 miles across the country to Utah last year.
  :lol:This sort of thing is the exact reason that I packed up and moved 2,000 miles across the country to Utah last year. I just couldn't deal with variable, inconsistent conditions anymore. Why would I stay in the east if I can ski the World's Greatest Snow every day? Once I made the decision, I never looked back.

Oh sorry, I was channeling voices again.

Given snow fall predictions and my desire to get to Cannon ASAP, I tried them first and got the wind hold notification. Figured Jay would be under a similar advisory (must have been in the AM for sure) and it was already 8:30am with crappy roads, so I took the Burke option. Normally a safe bet, but forecasters were WAY off on this one AGAIN. I think Tim Kelly on NECN called for 12"+ in the spread between Laconia through the boarder. We had over half a foot on Plymouth, the notch got about that much but the wind blew it halfway across New England, and Burke scored somewhere in the 4+ range. And then at 10a it started mixing at Burke and 11a started flat out raining, which it did all the way home down 93 even in the notch. A net gain for sure, but look for this stuff to freeze up. Base building, baby! No regrets on the blown decision, it was the safe and prudent thing to do not to roll the dice on a Jay wind hold. Jay, Mansfield, and Smuggs may be the only three ski areas to escape without rain but this one isn't over yet, let's hope!!

how'd last year work out for ya in utah, looks like you just missed two of the best new england winters in a long time. 10 inches with no mix till 2pm at the river today, no wind and light crowds. if ya don't like the conditions in new england, drive an hour and the rewards could be big.
