Beer thread

I'm tempted to rename this thread Craft Brewery Doomscrolling.

To quote @jasoncapecod's favorite line: "It's over, Johnny. IT'S OVER!!!"

Beer that was on sale at Libation Lodge outpost (barely over 1/2 mile from my family's cabin) of South Lake Tahoe Brewing last week.

$19 for four 16 oz. cans, regular price is $22. Can says "BEER FOR ADVENTURE" and that it has Citra, Citra Cyro, Mosaic and Nelson hops. It is very tasty with an IBU of 45 so not that bitter.

This beer out of Longmont, CO is currently $13.99 for a box of 15 cans at the local supermarket, ABV 4.2, 95 calories. Tastes like typical American light beer, not great, but goes down easy and best served very cold. Anytime I find a drinkable beer for less than a buck a can, that's a cheap buzz :icon-lol:

I feel like Dale's is best known for its basic Dale's Pale Ale vs this light lager. But that is probably more than a buck a can though...

(Some brewed only 20min from my house. They have a couple other brewery locations too).

I’m pretty sure I’ve had the pale ale variety of Dale’s.
Nice score @jimk . $1a can is unheard of here. I’m happy at $2 per can.

Here we go. The weather is boring and I like to stir the pot and break balls. It’s a NY thing
This has become my fav. If you are just a casual low brow beer drinker. And yes alcohol is no bueno. The new non alcoholic brews are amazing.

I went for a quick trip down south to wander about our mole hills over New Year. I went to a few breweries and tried some great beers.

Bright is a small town down the hill from Mt Hotham and Falls Creek which are both on Epic. I think @Patrick has skied at those.
@jamesdeluxe you’ll be interested to know my favourite beer from Bright Brewing was in fact their Pilsner. Very tasty but more balanced than the also very tasty pales and IPAs.

There is a river in town that all the Melbournians like to ride the float devices down. They then walk back a half mile or so and do it again.

Nice scenery up in the mountains with the snow gums and all.

Above was further north near Thredbo ski area. Should have taken the skis.

We flew in and out of Canberra. Bent Spoke brewing is long established and doing well. Their stout and red ale were very good but I had a triple (vaguely Belgian) that was excellent.
I can confirm that lager is still my least preferred beer style.

I am trying to keep score, but I am not sure what is closing at a faster rate:
  • MicroBrewries
  • Craft Distilleries. Especially Bourbon. How many nearly $100 bourbons can the market support?

Both implosions are impressive, but both markets were so overpopulated. Although I am more interested in and looking forward to all the Hard Seltzer companies going out of business.

I'm surprised to see any snow on the ground in January at that altitude/latitude. Spencer's Creek snow measuring site at 1,830 meters had zero snowpack since mid-November.

Does that even qualify as beer?

😬

In winter, I like a dark beer... scotch ales are my go to, although I enjoy a good porter or malty amber, also. I tend to go lighter in summer, however I stay away from IPA's. I really don't know how so many people like them.
